Diploma of English

1. What is the title of the book and who is the author? What type of book is it? Who are the main character?

- The Riddle of the sands
Its an adventure story.
-The main characters are Arthur Davies and Carrathers. Carruthers is the narrator and Davies is one of his old friends.

2. Where does the story take place?

- The sory takes place in England, Flensburg and in other places on the sea.
Its set in the early 1900s. Its about an adventure that 2 old friends go on.

3.do you like the ending?

- No, its complicated, difficult to unterstand

4.If you could, how would you change the book / ending?

- i would change some of the words that are used in the book. Some of the vocabulary seems very old strange. Words that are very old and not used very often now, o.g. fetch ought.
- There are also lots of words about sailing that are difficult to understand. (helm, hightide) lead line, mast , bouy run aground, dringhy, oars.

These words arenot used very often every day. I was a little frustrated when i realised that.

5.What was the best/ worst thing about the story?
-The last voyage was the best, they have to arrested or kill they friends make an appointment behind them back and took the trouble to attend the meeting it was a rehearsal for the invasion of england.

6.Who was your favourite character? Why?

- My favourite character was Carrthers, because he was ready for te even though sailing in october could be dangoures.

7.How long did it take you to read it?

- It took me one week to read it.

8.Would you recommomend this book? Why? Why not?

- hmm I dont no.. because mu friends wouldnot like to read this book like this.
